The summer of OFCORES
Forgive us, for the summer sins we’re about to commit.
The sun’s out, the vibes are high, and our team is feeling the summer mood. We asked everyone at OFCORES a few fun questions about their summer: what they’re up to, what they always pack, and what they absolutely won’t do when the sun comes out. The answers? Honest, funny and sometimes a little unexpectedly revealing.
Get ready to meet the team, starting with the new faces at OFCORES. Each bringing their own quirks, plans, and strong summer opinions to the mix.
Chris is openly embracing a 'nowhere' summer. Yes, you read that right. When asked what he always packs, his refreshingly basic answer is simply "clothes”. His summer alter ego is Indiana Jones, showing that a stay-at-home summer won't stop a thrill-seeking spirit. When thinking about summer jobs, the one he remembers most is preparing orders for a cigarettes and candies reseller. A pretty boring task, with the best moment being when it was finally over.
Malaury is going to Marrakesh to celebrate her grandmother's birthday, but if she could teleport anywhere for 24 hours this summer, she would choose Oman. When it comes to summer destinations, she firmly avoids the Belgian coast. Her ideal getaway is either a road trip with friends and a wild playlist or an off-grid cabin deep in the mountains.
Zoshka is splitting her summer between Swedish forests and Cretan sunshine. She finds BBQ ribs a bit overrated but she’s vegetarian, so maybe she’s biased. She always makes sure to pack a good book to dive into. When asked which team member wouldn’t survive on a deserted island, she didn’t hesitate: “Me. I’d try to befriend a crab, get emotionally attached, and completely forget to find food.” Can’t argue with that.
Tine is heading to Italy and France this summer but if she could teleport anywhere for 24 hours, she’d be on Pangkor Island in Malaysia, her personal definition of paradise. Her ideal getaway? Exploring a new city rich in culture (and carbs). Music-wise, Here Comes the Sun by The, and when it comes to packing, she brings the usual... and forgets something important every single time. Without fail.
Jo is keeping it classic with a trip to France this summer. Like many on the team, he’ll be sipping Aperol Spritzes, and never goes anywhere without his sunglasses. Dream destination? Honolulu. He probably just wants to sip from a coconut and join a hula dance without judgment. He describes his summer alter ego as the unapologetic “lazy bastard.” And honestly, who doesn’t feel like that sometimes? As for what he refuses to do in summer? “Nothing at all.”
Then there's Bianca, who is living an adventurous life this summer. She's exploring Portugal by van, working in Greece and attending a wedding in France. Her alter ego for the summer, Golden Detour, loves dirt roads more than Wi-Fi. She always packs her books, ready for any quiet moments, and dreams of teleporting to New Zealand for a day.
Zenzé has a crystal-clear mantra this year: Italy, ASAP. That stands for Aperol Spritz And Pasta. Lipgloss is non-negotiable in her summer bag, and Flowers by Miley Cyrus is playing on repeat. Her dream escape? A silent yoga retreat where no one talks to her. After all, peace and pasta are the goal. Her favorite summer drink? Aperol Spritz, obviously. She even has a tattoo of it.
Summer mode for Fanny means naps in the shade, long apero sessions, pool days with her kids, and hours of card games under the trees. She’s heading to the Basque Country with her family, followed by Brittany with friends, always close to the Atlantic breeze. Her go-to drink? A chilled rosé “piscine”. And no, she’s not sharing. Also never ask her to eat indoors without air conditioning next months!
Sofie likes to keep her summer plans spontaneous: lst-minute bookings and seeing where the season takes her. As long as there’s sunshine, good food, and her family around, she’s happy. Pistachio ice cream is her personality in a scoop, and when it comes to drinks, she switches between an Apérol Spritz, a good glass of wine or a Liefmans Kriek (depending on the vibe).
Thessa kicks off her summer early with a trip to Turkey! Summer evenings are for beach walks with her dog or city trips, but most days she somehow ends up hosting a BBQ for twelve. She's a self-declared Grill & Chill Queen: master of marinades and champion of chill. A summer philosophy she lives by? As long as there’s shared food, rosé, and good company, everything will be fine.
JB sees himself as a true sunset chaser. If he could teleport anywhere for 24 hours, he'd head straight to Vietnam with the perfect soundtrack: 'Walking on Sunshine'. Honestly, same. That song could bring sunshine to even the greyest of Mondays. His most memorable summer job was when he was 18, working in Amsterdam hotels, stocking minibars, serving breakfast and selling Ben & Jerry's ice cream. “I was 18 years old and released into Amsterdam,” he laughs. “Great times.”
Giulia describes her summer alter ego as “Solar Groove, never sits still, never cools down, moves through summer like a rhythm”. She’s off to Colombia for an adventure powered by sunlight, mojitos, and DMTF by Bad Bunny on repeat. AirPods in, world out. One thing she absolutely refuses to do this summer? Go on a diet. Amen to that. Let the good times (and the food) roll.
From silent yoga retreats to chaotic road trips and cocktail-fueled beach days, the ideal summer getaway at OFCORES comes in many forms. As long as there’s good food, sun, and a bit of Wi-Fi we’re all happy. Bianca, JB or Jo seem to be everyone’s top pick for surviving a deserted island. Meanwhile, poor Zenzé might not make it past day one (fish allergies don’t mix well with island life). One thing’s for sure: we’d have fun, even stranded
